Konami Digital Entertainment has officially announced a number of details about Pro Evolution Soccer 2012, which is set to be launched during the autumn of this year on the PlayStation 3 from Sony, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PC powered by Windows, the Nintendo Wii, the PSP handheld and even the older PS2.

The engine that powers PES 2012 has received an extensive redesign and the focus for the team working on the football simulation at Konami is to create a game which is as close as possible to reality while offering immersion and being easy to pick up and play.

Attacking is one of the areas of the Pro Evolution Series that received the most attention, with players having more options about how they play the game and the Artificial Intelligence of the team designed to support him in his choices.

Marking and defensive play has also been worked on, allowing the gamer to quickly switch between players.

A new system has also been introduced to emphasize the impact that defender physical attributes can have on defensive play.

Shingo aka “Seabass” Takatsuka, who is the creative producer working on the Pro Evolution Soccer series at Konami, has stated, “For me, the ultimate aim in the ongoing PES series is to match what people see when they go to a match or watch a big game on TV with what they experience on their console.”

He added, “As such, in consultation with football fans across the globe, we have been working non-stop to isolate and determine how to make our game marry in with how real football is played. This is key to PES 2012, and key to providing the ultimate football experience within a console title.”

PES 2012 will retain the exclusive rights to both the UEFA Champions League, the most important club competition in the world, and the Europa League competition, which serves as a sort of second tier for teams in the Old World.
