Hideo Kojima, the creator of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, says that he is instructing his team to make the characters in the upcoming Phantom Pain more attractive so that fans of the title are encouraged to use them for cosplay and to increase sales of figurines based on them.

On his official Twitter feed, the game maker states, “I’ve been ordering to Yoji to make the character more erotic, and he did it well. Recently I’ve been making characters this way.”

Kojima wants to make sure that the physical attractiveness of the various characters is linked to their personality and allows the player to create and maintain a connection with them.

He adds, “I create the setting thoroughly, how he/she spent early life, name, style, favorite phrase, fashion, action to stand the character out.”

The developer he is referring to is Yoji Shinkawa, the leading artist working on the new game at Kojima Productions.

Apparently, the level of attractiveness for one character in Metal Gear Solid V that has not been revealed will be so high that most fans will not be interested in creating a cosplay routine around it.

A number of characters that will appear in The Phantom Pain were shown in the E3 trailer for the game and most of them are pretty classic by the standards of the series.

Some commenters have negatively reacted to Quiet, the female sniper, who seems to be showing a little too much skin given her military training.

Kojima says that the story of the game is designed to reveal and explain why he has made certain choices for the cast.

The game creator has offered limited information on the story of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

The title is set to launch on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and current-gen consoles.
