Hideo Kojima, the man behind Konami's long-running Metal Gear Solid franchise has motivated his decision to replace the voice actor of series protagonist Solid Snake, David Hayter, with a new man in Metal Gear Solid 5, saying that the title needs to represent a new beginning for the series.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, after lots of awkward teasing, was finally revealed to the world last week when Konami showcased a gameplay video.

The first thing many fans noticed was that Solid Snake was no longer voiced by David Hayter, who had brought the character to life since the first game back in 1998.

Hayter revealed on Twitter that he wasn't even approached by Konami, and now series creator Hideo Kojima told GameTrailers just why he didn't want the voice actor to make a comeback.

According to Kojima, MGS 5 represents a new beginning for the series and this needs to be reflected by a new voice actor.

As of yet, however, the new Solid Snake voice actor is still unknown.
