Legendary video games developer Hideo Kojima has announced at the Tokyo Games Show event that the launch for Metal Gear Solid 3DS: Snake Eater will be launched early in 2012 in all territories, although the developer could not mention a specific date.

The game will use the new handheld from Nintendo to deliver the same gameplay as the original Snake Eater but with added three dimensional possibilities, making the experience easier to navigate and more immersive.

Kojima also talked about his Zone of the Enders series, saying that the High Definition remakes of the two games are being prepared for release during the middle of 2012, on the PlayStation 3 from Sony, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PlayStation Vita.

Zone of the Enders has become a cult hit and Kojima has been forced over the years to play down a number of rumors which suggested that he was actively working on a third game in the series.

At TGS it has stated that he is very much interested in continuing the story of the franchise and in evolving the gameplay mechanics in a game like Zone of the Enders 3 but that at the moment there's no team working on such a game.

Despite suggesting that the Metal Gear Solid series might end after Guns of the Patriots, the fourth title in the long running franchise, but since then Kojima Productions has announced that it was working on Rising, a game which will have former secondary character Raiden become the protagonist.

Rising is being prepared for a 2012 launch date and will allow the player to employ zan-datsu moves, slicing enemies with Raiden's weapons and using some of their components to then expand the abilities of the cyborg.

The story of Rising will take place between Sons of Liberty and Guns of the Patriots.
