Melissa McBride insists she’s a series regular on “Walking Dead” even though she’s listed in secondary credits

Melissa McBride has been on AMC’s “Walking Dead’ since season 1 (as Carol) but her name was not mentioned in the recent press release from the network announcing the actors promoted from guest stars to series regulars.

Chad L. Coleman, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Emily Kinney’s were, though.

Fans immediately reacted to this, taking to Twitter and other social media to point out that, well, this was simply not fair.

McBride addressed the rumors on her Twitter feed, writing, “awesome outpouring thanks! but I currently am a series regular. It's legalese, and what it means for my castmates now is CONGRATULATIONS!!”

TV Line explains that “legalese” in this case means that AMC has the right to include her name in either section of the credits (that is, main title sequence or secondary credits), even though she’s technically a regular.

Apparently, it’s in the fine print of her contract so, there, mystery solved. Plus, she seems not to mind it.
