If you already happen to own a tablet device and love it, then why not buy one for your kid also, Isabella Products partnering with content provider Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in order to develop the Fable, an 7 inch tablet that comes packed full of children’s content as well as a specially designed “carousel” user interface.

Sporting a pretty playful design, the Fable is coupled with a secure connection to Isabella’s VizitMe.com content management system, the tablet also coming pre-installed with a bunch of applications that enable kids to read stories, draw, game and share photos.

An e-Reader application with access to the Fable library is also bundled with the tablet, the device coming preloaded with a collection of eBooks, additional titles being available for purchase in the integrated store where a wide selection of picture books and interactive content is located.

Furthermore, the Fable tablet also controls the device’s access to new content, so parents manage all of the settings and content installed through a pin code or by a remote connection (through a password-protected account at VizitMe.com).

“Isabella Products is excited to bring to market the first children’s tablet aimed at creating a learning experience unrivaled by today’s toys and e-Reader products,” said Matthew I. Growney, Founder and CEO of Isabella Products.

“We believe Fable will safely and securely usher in some of the youngest users to a digital learning environment, and with HMH’s extensive list of award winning children’s titles, we will design a superior digital content experience.”

Other specifications are still uncertain as the Fable is set to release in mid 2011, although we do know this tablet will feature a mobile broadband connection, a integrated camera as well as a rugged design, a good thing considering it will most certainly be put to the test by every kid out there.
