It seems that in Medal of Honor's case beta was not just another name for multiplayer demo. A recent post on the PlayStation Blog detailed the major changes that are being implemented by DICE as a result of the open testing phase of the title.

Matthew Pruitt, community manager at Electronic Arts, wrote that, “It is always great to do a true beta like this, because at the end of the day, this game is for you, the gamers. We received some amazing feedback and opted to extend the beta to make sure that we were able to hear as much of it as we could.

“We have learned a lot, and we wanted to take this opportunity to run down some of the major changes/fixes we have made to the game as a direct result of your feedback.”

Pruitt continued to say that the hit detection had been largely improved, one of the many complaints DICE received also after the Bad Company 2 beta. Apparently it is very precise now, allowing even for shots that go between the legs and not damage the opponent.

Ammo can now be picked up from the enemies and allies and not only from weapon crates. Furthermore, the support actions were tweaked and are currently more difficult to achieve.

DICE has also improved the unlock tree for every kind of weapon, providing more choice, but also more balance.

All crashes have been fixed and the final version will also see much less connectivity issues. Moreover, the somewhat bland visuals were enhanced, with the developers promising that it looks spectacular.

The weapons have also been balanced. EA has promised that a lot of modifications were made to how guns behave in the multiplayer, so that no one feels at a disadvantage.

Medal of Honor will be launched on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on the 12th of October in North America and the 16th of October in Europe.
