The single player portion of the upcoming Medal of Honor first person shooter has been detailed by the studio behind the title, Danger Close. Apparently, the story will have three parts and will be told from two perspectives, the Tier 1 operators and the U.S. Army Rangers.

In a recent GameTrailers TV show, Greg Goodrich, the executive producer, shed some light on the narrative of the Medal of Honor reboot that comes out this October.

“We're still telling the solider's story, doing it right and honoring a community of individuals as we have always done,” Goodrich said. “It is inspired by real events, but it is a fictional story in an actual conflict.”

Two levels from the single player campaign were also shown, one about two Tier 1 snipers taking down insurgent forces in the Afghan wilderness, while the other one involved a fierce battle at night in the local mountains.

Goodrich was asked to differentiate Medal of Honor from Modern Warfare and to try an convince fans of Activision's military shooter behemoth to switch over to his game.

He said that with “Medal of Honor it is a little bit of a different tone. Our intent is different. It's authentic, it's plausible.

However, “There is a difference between authenticity and realism. You can have authentic weapons and authentic sounds and locations and tactics.

“Sometimes realism goes out the door when you have three or four weapons droppped on your back and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. We try to remain authentic,” the developer explained.

He also said the he was very happy about the relationship between his studio and DICE, the team that is working on the multiplayer component of the title.

Goodrich maintained that the main difference between Medal of Honor and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was in speed and focus.

Less vehicles, smaller levels and emphasis on gun skill are the Medal of Honor values that were to be implemented on the online portion of the game, according to Goodrich

Medal of Honor will be released on the 12th of October in North America and on the 15th of October in Europe, for the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and the PC.
