A schedule showing the launch dates for the most important video games publisher Take Two is set to launch in the coming months suggests that Max Payne 3, the long-awaited sequel to the third -person shooter series, might be launched in 2011 or early in 2012.

Take Two has been talking about its financial results, showing a strong performance in a non Grand Theft Auto year based upon Red Dead Redemption and on NBA 2K11.

But the company has not offered any information on Max Payne 3, which was originally set to arrive during the fall of this year but has since then been delayed to 2011 by Take Two.

Here's the list of video games that publisher Take Two has actually confirmed to be launching in the coming months:

L.A. Noire for the Xbox 360, PS3 - spring 2011 Top Spin 4 for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii – fiscal Q4 2011 Major League Baseball 2K11 on the Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PSP, Wii, PC - fiscal Q4 2011 Duke Nukem Forever for Xbox 360, PS3, PC - calendar year 2011 Spec Ops: The Line for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC - fiscal year 2012 XCOM on the Xbox 360, PC - fiscal year 2012 BioShock Infinite on Xbox 360, PS3, PC - calendar year 2012

A representative of the publisher responded to an inquiry about the status of the game by saying, “We're still working hard on Max, and we'll have more news in the coming months.”

For fans of the series, who have to survive on replays of the first two games, it's worrying to hear that any new information will only arrive in the first few months of next year, suggesting that the game is still deep in the development process.

Max Payne 3 is built around a new incarnation of the character, which seems to have gained a few pounds while losing his hair contemplating the death of his family.
