Old man does not come before October

Take Two Interactive might have hit gold with the spring release of Red Dead Redemption, the open world Western-themed videogame developed by Rockstar, which moved quite a few copies since launch date, but it seems that another big title has again been delayed, with Max Payne 3 confirmed as not coming in before October 2010.

The videogame, which is being put together by the Vancouver studio of Rockstar, was initially expected to arrive in late 2009 but the publisher said it would need more time to get into the right shape.

Max Payne 3 is set to star an older protagonist, who left the gloom of New York because of the events in the first two iterations. He is no longer a cop and spends his time working for a private security company and growing a respectable belly and a beard.

Max is even more disappointed with the world around him than before and Rockstar promises it will add new twists to the character while keeping the things that made him special in his first two outings. Presumably, this means bullet time will make a return alongside philosophical one liners about the situation he finds himself in.

Despite promises from the big publishers of spreading their big launches over the entire year, the Christmas run up seems as crowded in 2010 as it has ever been. The space beyond October is set to be dominated by huge launches like the new Black Ops Call of Duty installment and the fresh Cataclysm expansion for World of Warcraft.

Take Two will be counting on titles like L.A. Noire and Civilization V. Max Payne 3 will probably be delayed beyond the end of 2010 and the company will put it out early next year, when there's more space for the franchise to make a return to success.
