Rockstar has released a few more details about its upcoming Max Payne 3 video game, including the fact that it won't have an open world, or that its cutscenes will retain the graphic novel feel just like in the first two games in the series.

Max Payne 3 has been awaited by gamers for quite some time, and Rockstar has finally revealed a concrete release date, promising that the new adventures of everybody's favorite troubled New York detective will be delivered in March, 2012.

We've seen a full trailer, as well as a pop-up version of it, both presenting loads of details about Max's new adventures and showcasing bits of actual gameplay.

Now, Rockstar has published more details about it, as part of a recent Q&A session with fans.

First up, despite recent games like Red Dead Redemption or L.A. Noire having open worlds, Max Payne 3 won't feature it, instead opting to honor its predecessors.

"Your best reference point for the gameplay structure of Max Payne 3 is really the original Max Payne titles," Rockstar revealed. "As you know, Max Payne has never been an open-world game, it’s a more linear story-driven action shooter experience."

"Expect Max Payne 3 to continue this tradition but of course with lots of new bells and whistles and a massive array of technical advancements that bring a bunch of innovations to third person shooters - plus the advent of Max Payne multiplayer! Stay tuned for lots more info."

Rockstar also detailed how the music and cut-scenes will be reminiscent of the first two Max Payne titles, with the classic theme making a comeback, as fans could tell from the first trailer, while other tracks will also borrow from the soundtrack of the original games. Cut-scenes will keep their graphic novel feel, although Rockstar promised that a new spin will be put on them to make them even more impressive.

Overall, you can tell that even if Remedy Entertainment, the developer of the first two titles, isn't working on Max Payne 3, Rockstar is keen on honoring the originals with the new title, out on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 next year.
