There was a time when Matrox was one of the major players in the computer graphics card world, but, unfortunately for them, this is not the case anymore as, today, the company doesn't find itself in a position to compete with the industry's top dogs, settling with developing all sort of graphics solutions for the professional market such as the Mura video wall controller board.

But this doesn't mean the Mura is anything less than an impressive piece of technology since this solution can capture up to 1080p HD inputs and simultaneously drive four monitors at resolutions up to 2048×1080, all this while also retaining full RGB 888 image quality.

Based on the PCI Express standard and fully compatible with Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit this solution can deliver up to 64 Gb/s of bandwidth by itself or up to 512 Gb/s upstream and downstream bandwidth if used in a customized 10-slot Matrox Mura switch fabric.

Content can be delivered to the Mura via a wide range of inputs including RGB, DVI/HDMI, component, composite, and S-video sources, all of this while taking up a single slot in your system.

Furthermore, the Mura can be controlled via Matrox's existing Display Wall API interface, making it a seamless replacement for the previous Matrox VPX and Matrox PPX products.

“Matrox Mura’s upstream and downstream capabilities on a single board—at 4 times the performance of its competition—represents the new building block standard for display wall applications,” says Alain Thiffault, Business Development Manager, Matrox Graphics Inc.

“By replacing existing multi-board set offerings, integrators can now easily exploit a mainstream computer’s available system slots to drive boardroom-type installs or use our custom switch fabric to comfortably power large-scale visualization and collaboration environments.”

No infos regarding prices are available right now, although we do know that Matrox has developer kits available for selected partners.
