The ATI Eyefinity technology from Advanced Micro Devices, its 6-monitor version to be exact, has just been added to the FirePro V9800 professional graphics card, along with a massive amount of memory meant to offer a new level of productivity.

On the consumer front, a high-end video card usually sees 1GB of GDDR5 memory as more or less enough when it comes to gaming.

Granted, 2GB models and even 4GB cards have been developed, the latter ones meant to serve especially well as single solutions for Eyefinity 6 six-monitor setups.

Now, echoing its partners that unleashed such 4GB cards, AMD has done something similar, only on the professional market.

As end-users must know, both NVIDIA and AMD have their respective series of professional video adapters.

The one that AMD took and gave the six-monitor technology is the FirePro V9800, which has 1,600 stream processors and support for stereoscopic 3D, DirectX 11, OpenGL 4.0 and OpenCL 1.0.

The card also benefits from a memory interface of 256 bits, a 30-bit pipeline and can output a resolution of 2560x1600 at 60Hz.

Needless to say, as Eyefinity 6 demands, the video controller is designed with six mini DisplayPort connectors.

Spreading the workspace over six screens simultaneously will definitely improve work productivity, and the extra VRAM will make sure that performance stays smooth.

Basically, this product uses the same Cypress GPU (graphics processing unit) as the V8800.

On the other hand, it can cram out 2.72 terraflops instead of 2.64 and uses less power, 199W to be exact, despite having double the memory and more ports. As for pricing, those interested will have to part with a solid $3,499.

Users interested in the electronic may decide whether spending that sum is worthwhile by visiting the official product page that AMD has already set up on its website.
