No, it's not a typo, it's the special offer from Steam

For all those of you that wanted to see what the hype about Mass Effect was all about but, for some reason, never actually got to buy the game, Steam comes to the rescue. But this is business, not charity, so its special offer has a harsh expiration date. Mass Effect for the PC will be going on sale for a mere $10 this weekend as part of Steam's special “Weekend Deal” promotion. When the game came out on the Xbox 360, it had a ton of problems, but this Steam treat will include none of them.

Mass Effect for the Xbox 360 suffered from serious problems with its inventory, was littered with bugs and had long loading times. The game performed a lot better on the PC, but it did have that pesky SecureROM feature. The sci-fi role-playing shooter from BioWare was greatly praised by critics and gamers alike. It featured a very complex story that allowed the player a lot of freedom in dialog decisions and story development.

If you're thinking of saving your money for Mass Effect 2, you should know that playing the first installment will offer a lot more than just some background information into the game's story and its universe. Character decisions will be imported from the previous release and they will be part of the new game and the unfolding of its events.

Another interesting feature of the game will be the character's death. By the flow of his actions and his decisions, each player can give Commander Shepard a final death in the game. So be warned, if when playing Mass Effect 2, something looks like a suicide mission, it most probably is, so be very careful about the path you choose and the sacrifices you are willing to make. Most likely, this doesn't refer to some hardcore difficulty level in which death is permanent and you have to start the game from scratch, but most likely, it's something that the developers have incorporated into the story and gameplay.
