And a possible bonus one

BioWare has confirmed on the official forums for Mass Effect 2 that the science fiction action role playing title, which is set to arrive at the end of January 2010, will be coming on two game disks on both the PC and the Xbox 360. Some gamers might actually receive a third DVD in their package if they get a Collector's Edition, which has a movie disk featuring making of videos and some bonus information.

Chris Priestly, who is a community coordinator for BioWare, has said that those who plan to get the game on the PC will need to install the content from both the disks and then will use only the first one, labeled Play, in order to play.

He did not specify how much hard drive space the install would take up. On the Xbox 360 home gaming console, the title will not have a mandatory hard drive install and will require the player to swap the two disks in the drive.

The community coordinator stated that “Even though there is a disc swap, it occurs at a carefully planned place in the game (that does not interfere with gameplay) and is done once. You do not swap back and forth.”

Mass Effect 2 is the second big role playing experience BioWare is set to release in a six-month period while also working on The Old Republic Star Wars MMO and beginning development on a yet unnamed project, which might be Jade Empire 2.

The second game in what is planned to be a trilogy will be darker than the first and will put Commander Shepard in charge of a crack team of operatives as he seeks to find out exactly why human colonies are disappearing all over the galaxy. BioWare is promising better combat, more complex dialog and believable characters.
