Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey have welcomed twins less than two weeks ago. Shortly after the singer delivered them into the world, they received a visit from Child Protection Services, after complaints of alcohol and drug use right there in the hospital.

While he’s still adjusting to life as a parent, Nick is also getting ready for the premiere of his own show. He recently made an appearance on Piers Morgan to talk about it and, naturally, the topic of the twins came up, Contact Music reports.

People would do anything to get a good story, even if that means taking something they overhear and twisting it into a lie.

The same happened shortly after Mariah gave birth, when word got out that she was drinking, doing drugs and partying in the hospital, which prompted officers from Child Protection Services to pay them a visit.

Even now Nick can hardly believe this happened to them.

“Recently, the Child Protective Services were called with allegations that there was some drinking and drugs and all that going on, wild in the hospital, which makes no sense to me – how would a hospital allow that?” he told Piers Morgan on CNN, as per the aforementioned e-zine.

He believes said story was made up from something a nurse told Mariah, which was then twisted and made up into something it wasn’t.

“It all started when a nurse suggested to my wife that if you drink Guinness, the dark beer, the yeast improves breastfeeding... I don’t know if someone heard that, but then they were saying my wife was drinking beer. People will do anything to try to conjure up a story,” Nick explained.

He also said that even the people from Child Protection Services were amazed by how ridiculous the claims were – but admitted they had no other choice but to look into them once they were brought to their attention.

“To even have to deal with that, my wife in the state that she’s in, we’re in the hospital, to even have to think about someone possibly wanting to investigate your children... it’s sad at the end of the day,” Nick said.

Apparently, Mariah is still in the hospital with the twins. The celebrity couple is now facing another challenge: fending off amateur and professional photographers who try to sneak inside the facility to snap the first pic of the babies.
