19-date tour kicks off on December 31 in NYC

The “lambs” finally have reason to rejoice: after a long time that she’s been absent from live singing (television appearances and minor performances not included), Mariah Carey is set to take to the road to support her latest album, “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel,” as rumors said she would. Called The Angels Advocate Tour, the event will span 19 cities and will kick off on New Year’s Eve in New York, Madison Square, Rolling Stone reports.

Speculation about a tour started to make the rounds a few days ago, although many music insiders argued against the idea, saying that sales for “Memoirs” were too low to justify going on tour in support of it. As it turns out, insiders were not in the right with their assertion, and fans will finally get their chance to see Mariah on stage. Nothing has yet been said as to the possibility of extending the tour outside the US as well.

“If it seems like Mariah Carey fans have caught more glimpses of the superstar on the big screen in ‘Precious’ and on Eminem dis tracks than onstage lately, it’s with good reason: Carey has yet to tour in support of her latest release, ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel,’ and she didn’t hit the road in support last year’s ‘E=MC²’ – which was released as her relationship with now-hubby Nick Cannon heated up – either. But now, the long wait is over, as Carey has revealed plans for an eight-week, 19-city tour that’ll be preceded by a New Year’s Eve gig at New York’s fabled Madison Square Garden.” Rolling Stone says.

The next couple of months will be very busy for Mariah, as she’ll be taking the show to no less than 19 cities across the country. The Angels Advocate Tour ends on February 27 in Las Vegas, at the The Pearl Concert Theater. Tickets go on sale on December 19, but pre-sales are already taking place at Honey B. Fly, the biggest Mariah Carey fansite, Rolling Stone also says. Opening for Mariah on tour will be RydazNrtist, an R&B group signed to NCredible Entertainment, Nick Cannon’s label.
