Windows Phone enthusiasts are now able to download from the Windows Phone Marketplace the first pieces of software that provides them with a taste of Mango.

The new Xbox Live Extras that were made available for download via Microsoft's official storefront for the mobile platform include features that were specifically designed for the next flavor of the OS, it seems.

Those who would like to download the new XBOX Live Extras with support for Mango should head to the Marketplace here (Zune link).

According to the guys over at WMPoweruser, the new XBOX Live Extras can deliver a fast app switching experience, providing users with the very first taste of Mango on their devices.

As soon as the new platform is released on the market, users will benefit from a new XBOX Live experience on their devices, through a redesigned and upgraded Games hub.

Moreover, Mango will come along with a new set of games, as Microsoft has opened the door to more phone resources, which should result in the release of new, more appealing titles for the Windows Phone platform.

Earlier this week, Microsoft announced that the Windows Phone Marketplace was open for the submission of applications built for Mango, and more software targeted at this OS flavor should emerge soon.

Also this week, Microsoft made available for download the release candidate of their Windows Phone 7.1 SDK, which paves the way towards the release of the final set of tools in the near future.

Devices that will run under Windows Phone Mango should be released on shelves soon as well, while those currently running under the Windows Phone 7 OS will receive an upgrade to the new platform release soon after.

The first Mango mobile phone was already made available for purchase, the Fujitsu IS12T, and more handsets are expected to become official as soon as next week, this time coming from HTC, during an even the handset vendor already announced on Facebook.
