Today, the very first mobile phone to run under Microsoft's new mobile operating system flavor, Windows Phone Mango, has become available for purchase.

The handset, none other than the Fujitsu-Toshiba IS12T, was made official only several weeks ago, and is now available for purchase in Japan via wireless carrier KDDI.

The event marks a new era in the evolution of Windows Phone, as Mango brings along a great deal of new features when compared to the previous flavor of the platform.

The Fujitsu IS12T smartphone was already made available for pre-order via KDDI a few days ago, and now it was put on shelves at the wireless carrier's Yodobashi Camera store. It should arrive on more stores around the country soon.

The mobile phone comes with great performance capabilities courtesy of its Qualcomm MSM8655 application processor, and also offers a rough design, and other appealing features as well, all inside a compact design.

“Windows Phone IS12T is Japan's first water- and dust-proof smartphone featuring Windows Phone 7.5,” the wireless carrier announced.

The smartphone comes to the market with a 3.7-inch WVGA screen, as well as with Bluetooth 2.1 and WiFi b/g/n connectivity capabilities, and the usual set of sensors.

The handset comes with a 13.2-megapixels photo snapper on the back, the highest quality camera for a smartphone, and also includes 32 GB of internal memory.

Moreover, the Windows Phone Mango operating system was meant to provide users with a great experience when it comes to enjoying multimedia features on the handset, to browsing the Internet, or communicating with friends and family.

“Users can not only read and edit Microsoft Office documents, but can also store and share data through Windows Live SkyDrive, a free-of-charge cloud service operated by Microsoft,” the wireless carrier explains.

“It is an attractive smartphone employing the abundant applications and technology of Internet Explorer 9, the latest web browser for PCs to realize Internet capabilities.”
