Director Matthew Vaughn initially wanted to explore this theory, it was cut out

In “X-Men: First Class,” which came out in 2011, the opening scene explains how the mutants were involved in the Cuban Missile Crisis but, as the video above can confirm, they played an important part in other major historical events. Like the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, for instance.

Director Matthew Vaughn said some time ago that this was a theory he wanted to explore, that Magneto was responsible for the “bent bullet” that killed JFK but, as production on the film progressed, this story arc was dropped altogether.

The video above shows what could have been and, yes, the fact that it comes close to the 50th anniversary of JFK’s assassination and just in time to promote the sequel, “Days of Future Past,” is absolutely no coincidence.

“Half a century ago, Magneto was implicated in the mutant plot to assassinate President John F. Kennedy. The events of that fateful day in November have been a point of contention between humans and the mutants ever since,” the description of the video says.

In all fairness, the “documentary” doesn’t say out loud that it was Magneto who bent the bullet that killed the President but all evidence points to that being the case.

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” comes out in May 2014. Until then, we have only this new viral to keep us company – and you have to admit that it’s pretty neat, isn’t it?
