Video game publisher Electronic Arts has announced that it will be launching a Hall of Fame edition for the upcoming American football simulation Madden NFL 12, complete with a number of extra additions designed to appeal to the hardcore fans of the series.

The Hall of Fame edition is unique because it will have Marshall Faulk, one of the best known running backs in the history of the game, who played for the St. Louis Rams, on the cover.

The cover athlete for the normal game is Peyton Hillis, the current running back for the Cleveland Browns.

The Hall of Fame edition will be sold in a limited run of 125,000 copies and will be available at the same date as the normal version of the game, on August 30, with the price set to 89.99 dollars for those who pick it up in the United States.

Players who get the special edition will get access to a Panini trading card featuring Marshall Faulk that has been hand signed by him.

Each copy of the Hall of Fame edition will have one of four versions of the Panini trading card and two random boxes, one for the Xbox 360 and another for the PlayStation 3, will have a solid 18k card that was also autographed by the player, the most valuable card in the history of Panini.

The Hall of Fame edition of Madden NFL 12 also includes a Platinum Pack for the Ultimate Team game mode, which allows players to mix and match players and tactics in order to create their own fantasy team and then take on other players online.

The Platinum Pack will deliver a combination of 13 NHL Hall of Fame players and athletes that were on the cover of the Madden series.

They include: Marshall Faulk, Barry Sanders, Jerry Rice, Rod Woodson, Eddie George, Michael Vick, Donovan McNabb, Ray Lewis, Shaun Alexander, Vince Young, Larry Fitzgerald, Troy Polamalu and Drew Brees.
