One of the most important events of the mobile industry is the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which, this year, is set to start in about two days from now. However, the first announcements related to the show should occur as soon as tomorrow, and one of the first companies to put a new product on the table is Samsung that unveiled not to long ago that its first handset powered by the bada OS would be presented on Sunday. But Samsung's phone is not the only major announcement expected to be made at MWC, as other companies are also set to unveil fresh products, including Microsoft, as most of you already know.

Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion is said to also plan making a major announcement at the upcoming MWC 2010 show in Spain. According to phone Arena, Brightpoint, one of RIM's global distributors, recently on Twitter that RIM would make an announcement at the congress, and, while no exact details on the matter were unveiled, speculations already rose. Among the devices that might be unveiled by RIM, we can count the BlackBerry Dakota, a hybrid handset or the Tour2, but there are other possibilities too. One way or the other, we'll have to wait for the official unveiling to learn what RIM has in mind.

Also at the MWC show, mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless and software solutions provider Skype are set to present something new to the world. The carrier already announced the event on its website, and the press release reads: WHO: Verizon Wireless, the leading wireless provider in the United States, and Skype, the software that enables the world’s conversations

WHAT: Verizon Wireless and Skype will hold a news conference during the 2010 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Speakers will include:

* John Stratton, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Verizon Wireless * Josh Silverman, chief executive officer, Skype.

There are not too many things that can be added here, except maybe for the fact that we're pretty curious on learning whether Verizon will add a new service to its offering, providing users with the possibility of enjoying Skype's VoIP free calls on their devices. Stay tuned to learn more details on these MWC announcements, as well as on others that will be made there.
