Miley Cyrus put all family problems and criticism from various groups as regards her music aside, and took to the stage at the 2010 MTV European Music Awards to perform her latest single.

Though it’s not that long that she came to the attention of the PTC for the official video for “Who Owns My Heart” in which, admittedly, she’s showing too much leg and too loose morals, the singer proved once more that she was growing up – no joke about it.

Miley has long said she wanted to be allowed to grow up and explore both in terms of her music and her look, even if that meant treading on some toes.

It’s no wonder then, word in the blogosphere says, that she chose to leave her pants at home for her EMAs performance. In all fairness, though, she did put on quite an incendiary show.

Dressed in a white, long-sleeved body, and with her hair loose to allow her to rock at will, Miley took to the stage accompanied by lots (and much less clothed) backup dancers, both male and female.

She sang, danced and entertained to the max with her “Who Owns My Heart,” as her fans point out on dedicated forums.

In this context, it’s probably pointless to pay any heed to those saying she’s in too much rush to grow up since she’s only 17 and basically has the rest of her life to be doing just that.

As a performer, her fans are saying, she’s near-perfect because she doesn’t disappoint: which was more than obvious to how the EMAs audience reacted to her performance.

“Who Owns My Heart” is about a girl’s dilemma when thinking about what she loves more: her man or music, while she identified various points where the two become only one.

For Miley, based on her lively performance at last night’s awards ceremony, the answer is certainly “music.”

Watch Miley Cyrus singing “Who Owns My Heart” live at the 2010 MTV European Music Awards. Enjoy.
