14 DAY TRIAL // As promised, the first official trailer for “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” the second installment in the series, premiered last night at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards. Check it out above in full.
Any fan of the original novels must already know what the second book is about so, for those who don’t know and you might still think that Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) is safe because she won the Hunger Games, let me just tell you that she’s not.
On the contrary, she’s now actually in more danger than ever, having shown the world that they could stand up and fight, and live to tell the story.
As President Snow (Donald Sutherland) says in the trailer, “She has become a beacon of hope for them. She has to be eliminated.”
His confidante, Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman), agrees: “I agree she should die. But at the right time. In the right way.”
We’ll see if the odds are still in Katniss’ favor on November 22, when “Catching Fire” is out in theaters.
