Since March until April 13, fans had the best chance to have their say on their favorite or favorites in film. The winners were honored at last night’s MTV Movie Awards 2013.

As any respectable movie buff must already know, the MTV Movie Awards is like a counterpart for the Oscars. Whereas the latter rarely mirrors public taste, the former is almost always a reflection of it.

So, it should probably come as no surprise that the biggest movies of 2012 were also the winners. An impressive box office performance means a film is a hit with fans (obviously).

The more fans, the better the odds that they vote for it.

The Movie of the Year for 2012 was, as expected, “The Avengers,” beating stiff competition from other popular releases like “Django Unchained,” the R-rated comedy “Ted,” the final Batman installment “The Dark Knight Rises” and the critically acclaimed “Silver Linings Playbook.”

“Playbook” also earned Jennifer Lawrence the MTV award for Best Female Performance.

For once, fans and critics are in agreement: as it happens, she also won an Oscar in the same category with the role.

Her co-star in the same film, Bradley Cooper, won the MTV award for Best Male Performance.

Best On-Screen Duo went to Mark Wahlberg and Seth MacFarlane for “Ted,” while Best Fight also went to the cast of “The Avengers.”

As we also noted a while back, when the nominees were announced, the final chapter in “The Twilight Saga” was strangely overlooked.

It got just one nomination, which became a win. Taylor Lautner won Best Shirtless Performance for his take on Jacob Black in “Breaking Dawn Part 2.”

Below is the complete list of winners, check it out to see if yours made the cut.
