So many new laptops and desktop PCs have been unveiled over the past few weeks that it almost feels as though the market itself will soon burst open because it can no longer contain them all. And yet, even with the industry swarming with so many new netbooks, notebooks, ultrathins and other types of systems, some computer suppliers still think there is room enough for more. Micro-Star International actually seems to be particularly convinced of this as it has just readied the Wind U135DX shortly after unveiling the Wind12 U250 ultrathin.

Since it is a netbook, the Wind U135DX is, predictably, powered by the Intel Pine Trail platform. The central processing unit chosen by its maker is one of the more recent ones, which are capable of handling high-speed DDR3 memory. To be more specific, the 1.66GHz Atom N455 is backed up by 1GB of such memory. This alone should allow the newcomer to outperform the majority of all other entry-level mobile PCs on the market.

MSI's creation features the Intel GMA (graphics media accelerator) 3150, which feeds video to a 10.1-inch LED-backlit screen with a native resolution of 1024 x 600. In addition to that, a hard disk drive provides either 160GB or 250GB of storage space.

Furthermore, the configuration integrates 10/100 LAN, a 0.3 megapixel webcam, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and a 3-cell or 6-cell battery. Other specifications include a weight of 1.2 kilograms, a chiclet keyboard and the Microsoft Windows 7 Starter operating system.

The MSI Wind U135DX will be available in six different color options, each meant to make the device more appealing to a specific segment of the consumer base. Silver, blue, red and pink coatings will be selectable in addition to black and white. Unfortunately, pricing and availability details are still unknown.
