It’s no doubt that consumers, and AMD loyalists in particular, will be more than aware that, after a long time of Intel monopoly on the laptop market, Advanced Micro Devices is offering its own full range of mobile platforms. Needless to say, eager to take advantage of the competition, PC makers were quite prompt in developing PCs based on the new processors, many of which were showcased in Cannes, France, last month. Micro-Star International was one of the earlier adopters and has now gotten around to formally unveiling the Wind12 U250.

The Wind12 U250 was present at Cannes and drew attention through its implementation of the AMD ultrathin platform. The system configuration is centered around an AMD Athlon II Neo central processing unit and the AMD RS880M+SB820M chipset. Whichever chip is selected is backed up by up to 8GB of DDR30800 RAM and the Mobility Radeon HD 4225 integrated graphics.

Additionally, storage is provided by a hard disk drive of up to 360GB. Furthermore, the display of the machine measures 12.1 inches and is an HD glare type panel with a native resolution of 16:9.

Naturally, the notebook features all the necessary connectivity and I/O options that end-users have come to expect. A 4-in-1 card reader is present, as is Gigabit Ethernet, optional Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, 802/11 b/g/n WiFi and a 3-cell or 6-cell battery. Finally, MSI threw in an HDMI output, as well as a D-Sub connector, three USB 2.0 ports and audio jacks. All of these parts are crammed inside a package measuring only 29.7 cm x 19.0 cm x 2.4-3.1 cm and weighing 1.3kg.

The Wind12 U250 is pre-loaded with the Microsoft Windows 7 Professional operating system and should not take overly long to reach stores. Unfortunately, Micro-Star International did not disclose the exactly retail plan and availability details.
