Katauri Interactive, as the developer, and 1C Company, as the publisher, have announced that they are working on a MMO project called Royal Quest, set in the fantasy world of Aura, filled with magic and alchemy but also technology.

The narrative of the new game will be focused around dark alchemy practitioners that seek the precious Elenum mineral and are ready to kill in order to get it.

Players will be cast as heroes that will answer the King's call to action and will fight the new mysterious enemies in order to gain riches, fame, titles and castles.

One of the main features of the new game will be castles, powerful structures that have big reserves of gold that can be looted by successful players but can also have golds mines, gardens or lakes attached, introducing important bonuses to the player.

Monsters will also bear more than standard gold and loot, with Royal Quest adding the possibility of an enemy yielding a unique card which will offer the possibility of either upgrading items or adding unique abilities.

Players will also need to be careful in balancing the power of the elements, with players being very vulnerable when they face a fire based monster and they don't have a frost enchanted weapon.

Players will also be able to use companions that follow their master, collect loot automatically and deliver increased combat abilities for their leader.

The people at Katauri are well known for the King's Bounty series, which now includes three games, and managed to mix tactical hex based battles that mix brute force and magical attacks with open world exploration and light role playing elements for the main character.

It would have been interesting for Katauri and 1C Company to create a MMO which is more based around their unique abilities, like the hex based tactical combat, but, at the moment, Royal Quest seems like an average MMO that needs an unique selling point to really attract players.
