The two suspects in the Boston bombings have been identified as Russian nationals, the Associated Press informs in an update on the Watertown standoff.

According to a report by the Market Watch, the two men are brothers who have been in the United States for more than a year.

Business Insider writes that they have lived in an area of Russia which is located near Chechnya and have possibly been studying in the United States.

Preliminary findings reveal that the fugitive is 19-year-old Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, listed as a resident of Cambridge. He could be in the States on an athletic scholarship and is possibly enrolled in a school there.

As I noted previously, his 26-year-old brother has been killed in a shootout. I will keep you informed as more details on this story come to light.

[Update, April 22 2013]: A previous version of this news blog mentioned that Tamerlan Tsarnaev was 20-years-old. Thanks to our readers, the error has been corrected.
