Police are reportedly hunting a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings in the Mt. Auburn area in Watertown, Massachusetts.

As we have informed you, the Boston Globe writes that two men believed to be responsible for the Boston attacks have spurred a massive chase on the MIT campus, killing one police officer.

Sources have said that one of the suspects is in custody while the other has been involved in a shootout in Watertown.

However, Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis posts on Twitter that a male suspect has been killed, possibly in a shooting.

“One suspect dead. One at large. Armed and dangerous. White hat suspect at large,” Davis warns.

Tweets by residents, relayed by Mashable, reveal the photo of a police car with its windows broken following a fire exchange. The image has been posted to Twitter by user Andrew Kitzenberg.

“Bullet hole through our wall and the chair,” he writes.

Reports of a bomb threat in Watertown have also emerged, with police officers being asked not to use their cellphones. Authorities fear that the suspect may have planted explosives which could be detonated by a cell signal.

“Bomb squad robot inspecting the back seat of the sedan,” Kitzenberg comments.

Reporter Susan Tran posts that police have spotted several IEDs on Laurel and Hazel Street, possibly matching the type of bombs planted near the finish line at the Boston Marathon.

“Learning from scene near #LaurelSt and #HazelSt -several undetonated devices, on the road. Some could be pressure cooker-like,” she notes.

Locals write that at least 30 police cars are now on site in Watertown, adding that the alleged bomber may have been driving a green Honda Accord.

Twitter trackbacks under hashtag #MITShooting reveal that the suspect who is at large may have robbed a 7-11 store in Cambridge before going on to shoot a policeman on campus.
