Mobile phone manufacturer Pantech started supplying its UMTS mobile phone to M6 mobile in France since early March this year.

The mobile phone, U4000 that is now available through M6, the mobile communication service arm of M6-Metropole Television, is a stylish handset with 3G capabilities.

It comes with a slider form factor and its design is very typical for a product offered by Pantech. Features include a 1.3 megapixel camera as well as a VGA camera for video calling, 1.9 inch 260k color screen, WAP 2.0, JAVA MIDP 2.0, DRM 1.0 and Bluetooth for connectivity.

Pantech U4000 is equipped with 30 MB of internal memory, which should be enough for photos and other files. Users will also be able to listen to music on this handset, as it features an MP3 player as well as a MicroSD card slot for memory expansion, allowing the storage of a pretty large collection of tracks. Supported video file formats include MPEG4, H.263 and H.264. While at first impression it might seem larger than your average, the handset measures 95 x 43 x 16.5 mm and weighs 90 grams.

The U4000 has been available for Orange customers in France for quite a while, with Pantech starting to supply the handset since November last year. Most mobile phones produced by Pantech are generally unavailable for European users and usually sold only in Asia.

In this case, it looks like customers from France will even be able to choose what mobile operator they prefer, if they consider getting a Pantech U4000. The handset is available through M6, but there is no information regarding its price.
