Back in September 2010, we were pretty stocked about the release of a brand-new Bluetooth wearable camcorder, the Looxcie, designed to work with just about any smartphone out there, except from the iPhone, apparently, as the company has just released a brand new model designed specifically to work with Apple products.

Dubbed LX1, the new Looxcie maintains the overall design of the original model (and pretty much the same set of features, as well), apart from the fact that it's been slightly modified in order to comply with the specific features of iOS 4.2.

For those of you who're not exactly familiar with the Bluetooth camcorder from Looxcie, it's important to mention that it sports a 15 FPS, HVGA resolution camera, combined with Bluetooth Class 2 (2.5mW) for up to 10 meters range.

The device provides a fully adjustable fit for comfort and view refinement, is quite lightweight (less than 28g (1 oz.), while it's always on battery life allows up to 4 hrs of continuous video use and 6+ hours of continuous talk time when the video capability is not on.

The recorded video clips are time stamped and stored in a clip register as MP4 files, the on-board storage of up proving to be enough for around 4 hrs of video and hundreds of instant clips (3 hrs of clips).

"Millions of iPhone users rely on their smartphones for daily utility, entertainment and connection with friends and family," said Looxcie CEO Romulus Pereira.

"But until now, they have had to anticipate when something is going to happen that they want to capture and share. We're thrilled that as promised Looxcie for iPhone is now available and can give this audience a chance to record video and socialize it without having to be held hostage by the technology," concluded the company's CEO.

Looxcie for iPhone, compatible with any iPhone running i-OS 4.2, retails for the original suggested retail price of $199, but what remains to be seen right now is just exactly what will happen with the early Looxcie adopters that also happen to own an iPhone, and whose original Looxcie is now pretty much worthless, for all intends and purposes.
