Planned for later

It seems that one of the most interesting features of LittleBigPlanet will not be available when the game launches. Sony says that the online multiplayer version of the level creation tool which is integrated in the game will only get to players as a patch which will be released after the game is out. The offline creation tool will be available and will support up to four players collaborating on a level.

LittleBigPlanet is really seen as one of the major titles which will be released for the PlayStation 3 this fall. The game promises to put user created content front and center of the gameplay experience, while providing the players with all the tools required to create levels and to share them with all their friends through the game. The developers have really played up the collaboration aspect of the game.

To sweeten the deal, Sony also says that a Sackboy Spaceman costume and a rare T-shirt will be available for download when the game launches. The offer will only be live for a short period of time when the game is out on October 24.

A limited public beta test for LittleBigPlanet is now ongoing, but chances that you will be able to get in are slim, mainly because the number of openings was small to begin with and because of a lot of interest from players.

There's a chance that Media Molecule and Sony have opted not to include the online creation tool to make sure that those who get LittleBigPlanet get to play the 50 levels that are already created and available on the game disk. When the creation tool arrives, via patch, there's a pretty big chance that no one will pay attention to them as teams of people will scramble to make their own adventures and share them with other gamers.
