But it's not certain

LittleBigPlanet was one of last year's most hyped games, as it allowed players to let their imagination roam free and create their own platforming experience. After a lot of hard work with the creation tools from the game, that level would then be shared with other fellow LBP users who could experience and rate it.

But even though the game didn't sell a lot like Sony planned, its developer, Media Molecule, is quite pleased with the end result. The studio's lead, Alex Evans, talked with GamesIndustry and offered a very interesting piece of insight regarding an oft-rumored LittleBigPlanet 2. He went on to say that if a sequel was made, the team would certainly try to find a way to incorporate the levels from the first game into the second one.

“If you look at online distribution for LBP, when the sequel comes along, what do we do with all that content?” Evans says. “I think we can give consumers lots of stuff that you couldn't in a traditional game. We can give them backwards compatibility with those levels, and then when you decide on how you're going to sell that to them... all I'm saying is that we've got loads of options open to us...”

Evans is definitely right, as a new title with already over 2 million user-created levels will certainly make a lot of people take notice. Don't forget that, thanks to new downloadable content offered almost every week to users, the game is increasing by leaps and bounds in terms of the tools available for creating new experience by its own users.

Sadly though, the Media Molecule executive didn't say anything else about this rumored sequel and emphasized that the team was currently hard at work finishing up the PlayStation Portable version of LittleBigPlanet, which would arrive at the end of the year for both the normal PSP and the PSP Go.
