Before speaking to all of the gaming press present at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) this year, Microsoft took the time to announce the sequel to its karaoke franchise Lips. Dubbed Lips: Number One Hits, this new installment promises a lot of interesting things and, more importantly, tracks.

This new installment of the Lips franchise, which is Microsoft's answer to Sony's SingStar one, promises to indulge music fans all across the world in exclusive number one hits, as the title suggests. And it seems that Microsoft will be pulling out all the stops to promote and make fans interested in it, as it has already announced that hit band Coldplay would be prominently featured in this release.

Set more as an expansion to the first Lips than an actual full pledge sequel, Lips: Number One Hits wants to provide players with some of the most popular and successful songs released worldwide. From Coldplay's hit Viva La Vida to the likes of MC Hammer with U Can't Touch This or even Ready, Set, Go! by Tokio Hotel.

Here is the list of songs confirmed to be part of this game up until now:

• "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay • "Disturbia" by Rihanna • "U Can't Touch This," by MC Hammer • "More Than Words," by Extreme • "Apologize" by Timbaland featuring OneRepublic • "Karma Chameleon" by Culture Club • "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" by Marvin Gaye • "Oh, Pretty Woman" by Roy Orbison • "Ready, Set, Go!" by Tokio Hotel.

As you can see, even though the tracks aren't that many in number yet, they are very successful songs present in the collective memory of fans around the world. Hopefully, this will help them while attempting to sing them when playing Lips with friends or by themselves. Look forward to more details as the release date of the game approaches (October).
