Patience is the key

Fable II has been a very hyped up game by both its developer, Lionhead Studios, through the voice of its lead creative designer Peter Molyneux, and by its publisher, Microsoft, which has advertised the game through various Xbox Live Marketplace promotions. The game was officially launched a few days ago and since then, a few issues arose to really annoy the players who wanted to test out this highly innovative RPG, or Role Playing Game.

The game was already plagued by various issues before its launch, such as the missing DLC, or Downloadable Content codes, which should have shipped with the Collector's Edition of the title. Microsoft pulled out all the stops to ensure that the angry customers would get their DLC codes and announced that they would be delivered a week following the launch.

After the game was released, many players complained because of various glitches which made it almost unplayable. Glitches like the one with the Abbot Monks which decline every effort of the player to complete essential quests for the story of the game, or the multiplayer bug where the characters of players are stripped of their belongings and their level is set to zero really annoyed the players who wanted to get a more trouble free gameplay experience.

Lionhead took notice of the bugs and issued a statement regarding the possible fixes and patches for the gamers' problems. Through the voice of its community manager, Sam Van Tilburgh, the studio said that workarounds are being tested for short term fixes and that a complete patch is under development but an estimated release date can't be set yet.

“We’re keeping a close eye on our forums, while a lot of the issues reported are not issues with the game necessarily, some of them are however and so we’re looking at those, plus some (like the Abbot Quest) have been fixed already. The biggest issue is when people report a show stopping issue on our forums without enough information for us to reproduce it. Regarding the ETA for said patch, there is no news yet.”

So, Fable II players still have to check the game forums to get help for their problems because although a patch is in the works, considering the development cycle and the tests it must go through, it won't probably be hitting the Xbox Live Marketplace any time soon.
