Now that Lindsay Lohan is locked for the part of Elizabeth Taylor in the upcoming Lifetime biopic “Liz & Dick,” the race has officially begun to find the right Richard Burton as well. Lindsay knows an actor who would be perfect for the part: Gerard Butler.

For months, Lindsay was attached to the part, but not officially because producers wanted her to complete her parole before signing on the dotted line and going public with an announcement.

This happened the other day, as we also reported.

Minutes later, speculation was already rampant on who would be perfect to play Richard Burton in the film that would mostly explore the romance between the two screen icons.

Several names have been thrown in the mix (including that of Charlie Sheen), but E! News hints Lindsay might have already made up her mind on who she wants as her onscreen lover: and it's none other than handsome Scot Gerard Butler.

“For her part, Lindsay Lohan feels 'lucky to be able to do this role' and wants 'to honor [Elizabeth] the way that she should be honored because she helped a lot of people in her life',” the aforementioned celebrity e-zine writes.

“As for Lindsay’s onscreen love interest? She told Access she has someone in mind to play Richard Burton, but she doesn’t want to jinx it,” E! News adds.

“When one reporter suggested Gerard Butler for the role, Lindsay mused, 'I don’t know if he would do that, but he actually does remind me of [Richard] a lot',” the e-zine further writes, hinting that this is precisely who Lindsay was thinking of for the part.

Considering that, at one point, rumors were saying she and Gerard used to hang out a lot because they revolved in about the same circles, it makes sense why she'd think of him.

Whether he'd actually do a TV film is an entirely different matter, especially given his reputation as a very solid – and even more bankable – actor.

In other Lindsay Lohan-related news, Rosie O'Donnell is standing by her initial comment that “crackhead” Lohan is a very bad choice for the biopic, explaining in a new interview (video below) that what Lindsay needs right now is help – and not more media attention.

What Lindsay and Whitney Houston have in common is precisely that, Rosie says.
