Rosie O'Donnell rips into Lindsay Lohan: she's not right for the Elizabeth Taylor part!

Yesterday, after months of speculation, confirmation finally came that Lindsay Lohan was a go for the part of Elizabeth Taylor in the upcoming Lifetime biopic. Rosie O'Donnell laments the day the network and producers chose this “crackhead” for the part.

Rosie, Star Jones and Donny Deutsch were on The Today shortly after the Lifetime announcement was made, each weighing in on whether having her cast for the role was a good idea or not.

Video of a fragment of the interview is below.

As you can very well see, if Donny believes that LiLo is “the Elizabeth of our generation” both in terms of talent and media interest, Rosie and Star actually believe she's the wrong choice for the part.

Moreover, Rosie doesn't mince her words when she talks about Lohan, pointing out that she hasn't had a critically well received film since she was 16 and that, these days, the only reason she still grabs headlines is for her scandalous personal life.

“I feel very sorry for her. I think she needs a lot of time away. She's had a lot of trouble doing every single movie including SNL. She was out and not in rehearsal. I think she's not in a place to work,” Rosie begins to say.

It's obvious that she's trying to refrain from mentioning Lindsay's issues with substance abuse, which allegedly are still very much present, and her inability to commit to a project, even if it's of vital importance to her.

“I used to think she was extremely talented, but I have not seen enough of her as an actress in recent years to really make an evaluation,” Star adds, stressing how producers probably chose her to get PR for the film.

“You're out of your mind!” Rosie jumps when Donny tries to praise Lindsay, whom the comedienne eventually calls a “crackhead!”

“Get out of here! The last thing she did good she was 16! … I don't think she's right for the role and I don't think she's capable at this point of doing what is needed to portray that character,” O'Donnell adds.

Lindsay is yet to comment on the harsh words Rosie had for her but, luckily, her father is eager to do all the talking for her.

“Lindsay's talent isn't limited to being a comedian or getting notoriety for adopting and raising a bunch of kids. Sure, [Lindsay] has her pitfalls, but she is 25, and how old is Rosie? Two failed talk shows, a failed marriage, etc ... He/she who is without sin. May they cast the first stone,” Michael Lohan says in a statement to TMZ.
