If one ever wondered what Lindsay Lohan may have in common with Madonna, Cher, Beyonce, Diddy or Prince, one needs to wonder no more. The star’s mother, Dina, has revealed that Lindsay will be dropping her last name.

In an exclusive statement to PopEater, Dina says that Lindsay is famous enough to go by a single name and that she will be making the change very soon.

In other words, she will no longer go by “Lindsay Lohan” but by “Lindsay” only. As the e-zine puts it, the actress realized that she could do that when she sued E-Trade in that “milkaholic baby” scandal we also told you about in March last year.

“Lindsay is dropping the Lohan and just going by Lindsay,” Dina says for PopEater. This would also allow the family to break all ties from estranged Michael Lohan.

“Plus, me and [younger daughter] Ali will be officially changing our last names back to my maiden name, Sullivan,” Dina adds.

A source close to Lindsay swears that this is also a means of proving the world that she’s just a big a celebrity like the ones mentioned above, those who can afford to go by a single name.

“So many of the greatest people in showbiz are known by just their first name. Look at Oprah and Beyonce. Now you can add Lindsay to that list,” says the friend for the same e-zine.

“And it’s a way for them all to start over. No one in the family want anything to do with Lindsay’s father [Michael Lohan] anymore and that includes sharing a last name,” adds the spy.

Since this got out in the press, Michael Lohan did not miss the opportunity to respond: he doesn’t believe what Dina is saying, and states that Lindsay would never ditch the name of Lohan because it’s one of “integrity.”

“I’m proud of the Lohan name. It’s a name of integrity. We all had very successful jobs on Wall Street. My father was an unbelievable provider,” Mr. Lohan says.
