Lindsay Lohan can’t catch a break: just days after completing rehab, she’s been slapped with a grand theft charge, a felony that could send her right back to jail. You can blame a “burrowed” $2,500 gold necklace for her latest troubles.

We also noted the other day that Lohan was in trouble again, as the owner of a jeweler store in LA filed charges against her for walking out of the store with a gold necklace.

While the owner says she took it and never returned it (the owner waited to see if she ever wore it in public, which she did, as the photo attached to this article can attest), Lindsay is saying it’s all a misunderstanding.

She will now have the chance to explain that to a judge, but the DA is determined to have her locked up for this, E! Online reports.

“Lohan is due to surrender [today] at 1:30 p.m. at LA’s Airport Courthouse, where she will be rung up on a charge that could send her back to the slammer, Deputy DA John Lynch said in a statement today,” E! writes.

“She will face a single count of grand theft for allegedly lifting the $2,500 bauble from a Venice, Calif., jewelry store Jan. 22. If convicted of the felony, LiLo could face a maximum of three years in state prison,” the e-zine notes.

Lohan’s attorney has issued a statement to say that her client is innocent of all charges, and that she always believed the necklace was a loaner and that her assistant simply forgot to return it on time.

However, that couldn’t have been the case since, in case of a loan, there’s paperwork to be done – and Lohan’s name doesn’t appear on anything, the owner fights back.

If Lindsay is found guilty and the judge rules that she did, indeed, steal the “one of a kind” necklace, she could go to prison for a very long time because it would mean she violated the terms of her probation, stemming from a previous DUI charge.
