A Los Angeles jewelry store owner is accusing Lindsay Lohan of walking out of their establishment / stealing a $2,500 necklace. The LAPD is investigation and, if charges will be pressed, Lindsay will be kissing her comeback goodbye.

The story broke earlier this week, when said owner went to the police claiming that, 10 days before, Lohan had come into their store and, after she left, they noticed one of their necklaces was gone.

The owner had waited this long to file the police report because he wanted to see if Lohan would wear the necklace afterwards – which is exactly what she did: she’s wearing it in the photo attached to this article, taken the other day.

An investigation is ongoing, with the LAPD saying it’s looking at evidence to see whether Lohan can be charged for the theft.

Given Lindsay’s troubles with the law of last year, if she’s found guilty, she will go to state prison and this literally means there will be no more silver screen comeback for her, the Huffington Post reports.

“Lohan, who as far back as 2009 was in talks to play a thinly veiled version of her troubled starlet self in producer Richard O’Sullivan’s film ‘One Night With You,’ may be in danger of losing the part thanks to her latest troubles,” writes the Post.

The film is seen as her last vehicle back into the good graces of the public and critics, with insiders calling it a version of Mickey Rourke’s “The Wrestler,” which put the controversial actor back on the map for his acting chops, diverting attention from his personal life.

“She’s under investigation by the LAPD, and if they find wrongdoing, she could be headed back to jail – and out of the film. More jail time would mean no screen time, making even more real the character she is tentatively due to play,” the Post writes.

As it happens, Lindsay has had plenty of chances of making a comeback and she seems to have blown them all. No one will want to work with her if this project too goes down the drain.

“This is her Mickey Rourke comeback. She’s not going to find a better script to put her back into lovable ‘Mean Girls’ territory,” says a source.

Meanwhile, camp Lohan insists she got the necklace as a loan from the store and her publicist simply forgot to return it.
