As reported a little over a month ago, McG is actively trying to get Linda Hamilton on board “Terminator: Salvation.” She would, of course, be reprising the part that turned her into a legend, that of Sarah Connor, and, while how much of screentime she will get is still to be determined, Hamilton confirms for MTV that she is in talks with the movie studio for the part.

There is a catch, though. Sarah Connor, as fans will certainly remember, dies, and no matter how much director McG is trying to pay tribute to the original films, bringing her back from the dead would be a bit far-fetched. There is, though, the solution to have her do a voiceover at some point in the movie, and it is precisely this that the director and the movie studio are trying to do, Hamilton tells MTV.

“We are talking. I haven’t read it [the script] yet. I don’t know what direction they will go in. My contribution would be voiceover. I would probably be very happy to loan my voice depending on what the material is. Wait and see. They’re already writing it. We’ve been negotiating it.” the actress explains for MTV, refraining from offering any further details.

As noted above, talk of Hamilton’s involvement in “Terminator: Salvation” first began when McG himself hinted that the studio might try to bring back some of the most popular characters and actors, Sarah Connor also being among them. Ever since then, the idea of a voiceover was circulated but, then just like now, the specifics of the special appearance were not made public.

“After the presentation was over, we talked with McG at the cocktail reception that followed and asked him whether he planned on doing any sort of recap of the first two movies as an introduction for those who didn’t get a chance to see them. He said they were still trying to figure out what to do, but one option they came up with was to have Sarah Connor do a voiceover to open the movie.” ComingSoon reported at the time, after getting to have a brief chat with the director after a New York screening of the film.

“Terminator: Salvation” drops in theaters on May 22, 2009, so stay tuned here for more updates on Linda Hamilton’s special appearance.
