What else could better take the fun out of 'finishing the fight' but damaged copies of Halo 3?

By now, every Xbox 360 and FPS fan on the planet has Halo 3 in his console mashing the buttons on the controllers like hell. Unless they haven't had a quarrel with their parents, or got fired and couldn't raise the money in time, or... got their hands on a scratched copy of Halo 3...? That's right, according to this piece up on megagames.com, some Halo 3 fans experienced such unfortunate events.

First of all, more gaming websites have reported the issue, occurring more with the Limited (Collector's) Edition of Halo 3 and less with the Legendary Edition of the game. The thing is, The Collectors' Edition comes complete with a book on the game's characters, a making of/behind the scenes etc disc, the game's manual of course all stuffed in a "sleek metal collector's case," as Microsoft themselves described it, containing the two game discs.

Now, in that "sleek metal collector's case," the two discs are supposed to sit tight held by hubs. However, the discs have been reported to escape from their hubs, "and end up scratched up by the very hub that was supposed to keep it in place", as the upper mentioned website reports. Here's a neogaf forum member (Hooterville) reporting that one of his friends has experienced the issue:

"A friend just opened 3 copies of Halo 3 Limited Edition and with all three copies both disc were loose inside of the package and scratched to death. This Limited Edition has a piss poor plastic nub and foam pad disc holding design that is a major flaw and the discs pop off with ease."

Just before the game's release, employees from the UK catalogue retailer Argos have also confirmed the story, mentioning that even some Legendary Edition discs were scratched: "I saw a few PAL copies yesterday... Every LE had two loose discs in the box, both badly scratched. The one we tested seemed to play ok but they're getting sent back as faulty anyway. It's not like they could be sold in that condition", said an anonymous store employee, according to the same source.

What else could better take the fun out of "finishing the fight" but scratched copies of Halo 3? It's like the Xbox 360 is doomed to sport scratched games or something... Oh and, if there was a certain edition of Halo 3 that shouldn't, under any circumstances, have gotten damaged, it would be the Limited (Collector's) Edition of the game. How about you? Are your game discs good?
