The slates have been submitted to a battery of lab tests

There are a dozen of features to take into consideration when deciding which tablet to buy, from screen size, processor capacity and available storage, but since we’re talking about mobile devices here, battery life should also be something to watch out for.

After all you don’t want to end up with a slate that dies after a meager 3-4 hours of watching vids and browsing the web.

Now CNET has done a round-up of the tablets they have tested and has come up with a top of the most long-lasting slates. In the end, they mentioned only six (I have no clue why only six) and surprisingly to some the Apple iPad Air didn't take the top spot.

But let’s take one thing at a time. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch kick-starts the top with its 10-hour battery life, followed in close proximity by the Nexus 7 2013 with 11.5 hours.

Microsoft’s Surface 2 will offer a pretty similar life span with 11.6 hours on a single charge. Lenovo’s Yoga tablet, which has been hailed as being one of the tablets to boast eternal life, has been proved to last up to 12.4 hours.

Apple’s iPad Air makes an appearance at number 2 with 13.2 hours, but the winner of it all is the Lenovo Yoga 8 that will give users a whopping 14.2 hours of juice. Priced at a competitive $249 / €181, this is certainly a tablet to watch out for.

Lenovo has managed to obtain such a battery life thanks the cylinder-shaped lithium-ion battery. In opposition, most tablet models these days use a lithium-polymer battery instead.

Oddly enough, back in December we told you, Consumer Reports has also tested the device to verify the claims of the producing company. The results they got show the Yoga 8 capable of sustaining 18.5 hours of life while the Yoga 10 provides only 15.1.
