Lenovo seems quite eager to expand its product line recently, having prepared not only the IdeaPad S10-3s netbook, but also the C200 All-in-One desktop PC. Not content with just these two product updates, the PC supplier has also made a move on the ultraportable notebook front, by adding a pair of new processor options to its ThinkPad X100e laptop, which was initially showcased at the 2010 international Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Now, in addition to the single-core Athlon Neo MV-40 CPU, end-users will be able to configure their slim PC with dual-core chips.

The Athlon Neo MV-40 central processing unit from Advanced Micro Devices gives the X100e a processing power of 1.6GHz. This performance, however, may not be enough for everyone, which is why the company has now added the Athlon Neo X2 L335 and the Turion Neo X2 L625 to the list of options.

The L335 has an L2 cache memory of 512KB and a frequency of 1.6GHz per core, whereas the Turion Neo X2 L625 brings the same clock speed but a larger cache memory, namely 1MB L2. Both chips can control RAM of 800MHz.

Lenovo didn't make any other changes to the configuration of the 11.6-inch ultraportable, the laptop still has up to 4GB RAM (1GB, 2GB and 3GB options available), a hard disk drive of 160GB, 250GB or 320GB storage and the ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics.

In addition, the laptop has Integrated WiFi and LAN connectivity, Integrated Mobile Broadband and optional Bluetooth. Finally, all configurations come pre-loaded with the Microsoft Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit OS or the Genuine Windows 7 Professional 32-bit operating system.

Obviously, the added horsepower enabled by the new CPU options literally comes at a price. The L335 and L625 are available for the added cost of $45 and $70, respectively.
