Outside of the Ice Cream Sandwich powered IdeaTab K2 that we have talked about earlier this month, Lenovo also plans to launch the LePad S2010 Android tablet that will feature a similar form factor but lower specs.

This 10.1-inch LePad tablet was specifically designed for the Chinese market and at its heart stands a dual-core Qualcomm system-on-a-chip (SoC) device running at 1.5GHz.

This will be seconded by 1GB of RAM and the 3.2 version of the Android OS, also known as Honeycomb, while the 10.1-inch IPS display has a native resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.

In addition, Chinese LePad S2010 buyers will also get an 8MP main snapper and a 1.3MP front-mounted camera for video conferencing, as well as integrated 3G with support for China Telecom’s EV-DO plus China Unicom’s WCDMA (the modem is also unlocked for voice calls).

According to Engadget, the hardware found inside the 9.9mm (0.39 inches) thick tablet will get its juice from a 7,670 mAh battery pack that Lenovo believes it will be good for up to eleven hours.

The announcement of the LePad S2010 doesn’t mean that Lenovo has canceled its plans for the more powerful IdeaTab K2, as these two tablets target different markets.

For those of you that don’t remember, the IdeaTab K2 is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 SoC that is paired with 2GB of RAM, Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich and sports a standard-sized USB port as well as a rear facing camera.

The tablet's most distinguishable feature is the back-mounted fingerprint scanner that apparently doubles as an optical joystick.

No details regarding the price of the LePad S2010 are available, but the tablet should launch next month in China and is expected to be a great deal cheaper than the IdeaTab K2.
