Lenovo's own RaipdBoot technology enables it to start in just 15 seconds

Lenovo has recently announced the introduction of a new all-in-one desktop from the ThinkCentre product family, the M71z, which was designed to be used by large businesses, schools, and government institutions.

The company's latest AIO is built around a 20-inch CCFL backlit panel with a native resolution of 1600x900 pixels and 220 nits brightness, while being powered by Intel's second generation Core processors.

Users have the option of choosing between no less than seven CPU models, including Pentium, Core i3 and Core i5 SKUs, going all the way to the Core i5-2500S which includes four processing cores with a base clock speed of 2.7GHz and max Turbo frequency of 3.7GHz.

The fast Intel chips can be paired together with as much as 8GB of DDR3 system memory, and with a fast 160GB solid state drive.

Users can also opt for a traditional platter-based hard drive if they want to keep costs down, but they will lose support for the Lenovo RaipdBoot technology that enables the system to boot in no more than 15 seconds.

The rest of the features list includes a DVD burner, optional WiFi, six USB ports, chassis intrusion switch, a TPM 1.2 module, and a DisplayPort video output for viewing digital video on a second monitor.

A touchscreen is also available as an option together with a 2.0MP camera and a a digital array microphone for enabling video conferences.

"We're seeing more and more business customers embrace all-in-one desktops for their space savings, portability and style benefits," said Tom Shell, general manager and vice president, Worldwide ThinkCentre Business Unit, Lenovo.

"We've built the ThinkCentre M71z to go beyond these advantages and give any business that needs it the highest levels of desktop performance," concluded the company's rep.

The ThinkCentre M71z all-in-one desktop will be available in October with models starting at approximately £429 ($666 US or 493 Euros).
