Get professional on two screens

Lenovo has been very active recently, having introduced not just a new netbook, but also an all-in-one desktop and a business laptop, among other things. Still, when this business ThinkPad came out, some end-users that kept their eyes peeled back in January might have started wondering what had happened to a certain other novel mobile PC that the company had promised. The laptop in question is the ThinkPad W700ds which, in addition to having performance capabilities high enough to make even the big bad wolf jump for joy, also comes with a unique display option.

The W701ds is the dual-screen version of the ThinkPad W701, which the PC supplier has also unleashed. With high processing and memory capacities, as well as professional graphics that will allow 3D modeling and other tasks to be easily accomplished, they will make sure that no business need goes unfulfilled.

That being said, the two are powered by a quad-core Intel Core i7 central processing unit, are literally loaded with as much RAM as they can muster (up to 16GB to be exact) and just as much storage space, whether it is 1TB (two 500GB HDDs) or a pair of 128 SSDs. As for graphics, end-users will be able to choose between the CUDA-capable NVIDIA Quadro FX 2800 and 3800 series.

Now comes the part that sets Lenovo's workstations, particularly the ThinkPad W701ds, apart from the others on the market. While both have a 17-inch WUXGA LED-backlit display, the latter also boasts an auxiliary 10-inch screen that can expand the workspace or facilitate multitasking. Other specifications and optional components include a 2-megapixel webcam, a DVD drive, Bluetooth and WiFi.

Business users that have dreams about buying either model may first want to know that the ThinkPad W701 has $3,299 as a minimum price, whereas the W701ds starts at $3,999. Those willing to relinquish their funds if it means getting either as soon as possible will be pleased to know that they are up for order, with shipping times of one to two weeks.
