Focus Home Interactive, as the publisher, and Cyanide, as the developer, have announced that they plan to launch a new version of their PC adaptation of the classic board game Blood Bowl. The new Legendary Edition will bring in another 12 races that are part of the universe, and the two companies are hoping to have the title out before the end of this year.

The developers are not saying exactly what races players will be able to enjoy when the Legendary Edition is out, but the Undead, the Amazons and the Ogres have all been mentioned as part of the initial announcement. They will join the eight races, which were initially part of the game and all the new comers will have their own strengths and weaknesses, their own star players and tactics and their own tricks that can assure their victory on the playing field.

Cyanide is also working on a new Story mode, which puts the gamer in the shoes of a new coach that must prove his abilities by managing and leading to victory a number of teams taken from the Blood Bowl universe. The creators say the story talks about “the origins of Blood Bowl, the Old World and its many races that relentlessly compete with each other in merciless games.”

Focus Home Interactive and Cyanide are also promising to make it easier for first time players by putting together a new tutorial that explains the basic mechanics and the more obscure rules of Blood Bowl. The Legendary Edition of the game will also come with all the updates that have since been made in the Living Rulebook, which is used by all those playing the table top version of Blood Bowl.

It is by no means easy to pick up and play but veterans and new fans will be delighted to hear that there are now 20 races to choose from when one starts a new game.
