14 DAY TRIAL // Over the weekend, word got out that former “Saved by the Bell” star Lark Voorhies had married music engineer Jimmy Green in a Las Vegas ceremony held at the end of April. Hours after news broke came reports that he was a wanted man in Arizona for making criminal threats and disorderly conduct.
More details on the surprise marriage have emerged online, and they don’t put the new man in Lark’s life in a positive light. Her mother, Patricia Voorhies, has just obtained a restraining order against him, TMZ reports.
Green is a gang member with a nasty temper
According to the report, Patricia and Jimmy don’t see eye to eye, which makes their current living situation all the more difficult. He and Lark sleep under Patricia’s roof, and even though she repeatedly asked him to take the bus at night to his own place, he never listens to her.
So she keeps finding him asleep around the house, including in her own closet, she told the court. That time, he lashed out at her when she woke him up, and as if that wasn’t bad enough, he also keeps throwing gang signs at her to the point where she lives in fear for her safety.
A court has granted her a restraining order, which means that Jimmy must keep 100 yards away from her and her house. No word yet if his new wife, Lark, will go with him when he moves out, but Patricia has also been telling the cops that he’s been taking advantage of her because she is “mentally and emotionally fragile and under doctors’ care.”
In response, Green tells TMZ that Patricia is a control freak who feels like she’s losing her tight grip over her daughter, which explains the restraining order against him: this way, she can ensure she has control over Lark for a while longer.
Lark Voorhies is severely bipolar
The 41-year-old actress, who famously played Lisa Turtle on the teen comedy series, has been out of the spotlight for many years, but not by choice, according to her mother.
A couple of years ago, Lark gave a very rambling and confusing interview that went viral as soon as it aired, sparking rumors that she was a drug or alcohol addict.
Patricia told the press that Lark was actually severely bipolar but that she was refusing treatment, which made it impossible for her to function like a responsible adult. Lark denied the allegations, saying her mother meant well but was basically clueless about what was happening in her life.
If Patricia was telling the truth then, she’s probably telling the truth now as well, when she says her daughter is not able to understand if she’s being taken advantage of.
Lark and Jimmy met less than a year ago and started dating immediately. In a statement released last weekend, she said she knew from the first minute that he was “the one” for her.
